Bariatric Surgery Medications
Activity description
Obesity is a worldwide epidemic, affecting all ages. Bariatric surgery remains an effective sustained-weight-loss option for individuals with class II or III obesity. With the implementation of bariatric surgery on the rise, there is a need to facilitate discussion and awareness regarding bariatric surgery while also recognizing medication-absorption concerns after surgery. This on-demand webcast will discuss the epidemiology of obesity and the background of bariatric surgery as a strategy for the management of obesity. The appropriate use of medication management prior, during, and after bariatric surgery, as well as follow-up care plan strategies to promote improved outcomes, patient experiences, and long-term weight benefits will be highlighted.
