Asthma: Prevention and Treatment of Exacerbations
Activity date/time: This webcast was held on Thursday, December 27, 2018, from 1–2 p.m. CST.
These materials are intended ONLY for those that are registered for/attended the live webcast.
Activity description
Asthma is a lifelong disease that causes wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness and coughing. During an asthma attack, airways become inflamed, making breathing difficult. Asthma attacks can be mild, moderate or serious — even life-threatening. Exacerbations of asthma are the main cause of asthma morbidity, inducing acute respiratory failure and sometimes death. With appropriate care and education, people living with asthma can manage their condition. This activity will discuss the importance of asthma control to improve quality of life, decrease medical expenditures, and increase productivity of individuals with asthma.
