Medical–Dental Integration: Oral Evaluation and Fluoride Varnish Application
Activity description
Dental caries affect 23% of US children aged 2 to 5 years. Medical providers play a pivotal role in promoting early preventive dental care and the early detection of dental issues, both of which greatly reduce the risk of complications. This on-demand e-module will equip medical providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote oral health effectively in the pediatric population. Participants will gain insight into the importance of the medical provider’s role and the benefits of comprehensive oral evaluations, fluoride varnish application and timely referrals to dental professionals.
This on-demand e-module is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, PAs, nurses and nurse practitioners who care for the pediatric population.
Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

- Demonstrate the steps and techniques for conducting a comprehensive oral evaluation.
- Explain the benefits and application process of fluoride varnish in preventing dental caries.
