Functional Quadriplegia and Seizure Disorders Diagnosis and Documentation
Activity description
Part one of this on-demand webcast will highlight functional quadriplegia which describes a condition where someone has complete immobility due to severe weakness or frailty. This condition is distinct from quadriplegia due to spinal cord injury or stroke. It's important to distinguish between the two because functional quadriplegia arises from other medical conditions. Functional quadriplegia requires total care for individuals and significantly impacts the health care system. Accurately identifying and documenting functional quadriplegia helps health care professionals (HCPs) communicate the level of care an individual needs.
Part two of this on-demand webcast will highlight epilepsy and seizure disorders and explain how a clear diagnosis is established following a thorough initial evaluation. It will discuss how detailed documentation and accurate coding are crucial for future treatment decisions and clear communication with other HCPs so that they can effectively manage this neurologic disorder and optimize care to ensure proper health care delivery.
