The Role of Interprofessional Collaboration in Transforming Health Care Delivery

The goal of interprofessional collaboration within the health care team is to improve patient outcomes through practicing safe, high quality, accessible, patient-centered care leading to an optimal health care experience. Collaboration among the health professions is increasingly becoming a focal issue in health care with evidence suggesting that teams of people from different disciplines who work together can improve work processes and patient care outcomes. In addition, research has long suggested that collaboration improves coordination, communication and, ultimately, both quality and safety of patient care.

The purpose of this webcast is to highlight the shift toward interprofessional teamwork in health care and examine what this means for clinicians and health care organizations today and tomorrow. We invite you to join this panel of experts as we discuss the benefits of interprofessional teamwork; define the evolving clinician care team; explore the relevant research and offer examples of how various organizations are meeting the need to better coordinate care and fully leverage this interprofessional approach to health care.
