Activity description
Workflow efficiency tools can optimize charting and improve documentation productivity. Epic has a variety of tools that can decrease the time it takes in writing patient notes. This lesson will review Epic SmartTools to optimize the note-writing experience.

Target Audience
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of nurse practitioners, PAs and physicians who are interested in learning about the electronic health records system Epic.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss ways to optimize note writing by using SmartTools.
- Identify features of Epic that can recognize any shorthand or abbreviations to pull data quickly into their Notes and decrease note-taking times.
