RN READY: Updates on Musculoskeletal Conditions with Respect to US Practice

Activity description

This activity is designed to provide nurses with an in-depth discussion of musculoskeletal conditions related to orthopedic trauma and connective tissue disorders and a review of prosthetic management. It will delve into the etiology and rehabilitation strategies for various orthopedic injuries and explore the diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care for conditions such as arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, systemic lupus erythematosus, gout and Lyme disease. This multidisciplinary approach will equip participants with practical knowledge to align the standard of care for these acute and chronic conditions with that of US health care practices.

  • Discuss the diagnosis and management of orthopedic injuries including strains, sprains and fractures.
  • Describe the clinical features and therapeutic strategies for arthritis and connective tissue disorders, including pharmacologic dosages, side effects and time to effect.
  • Identify the role of the multidisciplinary health care team in the approach to rehabilitation in post-orthopedic trauma and the post-amputation period.
  • Recognize best practices in the maintenance and care of prosthetic devices, including patient education and the prevention of common post-operative complications.

Nurses (PRC – Philippine Council of Nursing)
This activity is accredited by the Professional Regulations Commission – Continuing Professional Development. It is worth 7.00 PRC CPD Units as prescribed by the PRC-CPD council for the profession of Nursing. This activity will take ~5.5 hours to complete.

A certificate of attendance will be provided to learners upon completion of activity requirements, enabling participants to register with licensing boards or associations that have not been pre-approved for credits. To apply for credit types not listed above, participants should use the procedure established by the specific organization with which they wish to obtain credit.
