Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: Accurate Diagnosis and Optimal Management

Activity description

This activity consists of a recorded presentation from the "Medical Director and Clinician Leadership Forum 2024" held September 23-24, 2024 in Las Vegas, NV. The Forum was designed for medical directors and other clinical executives/leaders working in the managed health care industry.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) affects millions of adults in the U.S. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, COPD is our sixth leading cause of death. This presentation will explore the latest advancements in the management and treatment of COPD drawn from the most recent guidelines and research findings and highlighted in the 2024 Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) report. Particular attention will be paid to the importance of accurately diagnosing COPD and the impact of both under- and overdiagnosis. Updated COPD definitions, treatment strategies and the role of novel therapies in reducing inflammation and exacerbations will also be discussed with a focus on management to prevent hospital readmission.

Learning Objectives
