RN READY: Updates on Respiratory & Cardiologic Challenges with Respect to US Practice
Activity description
This activity is designed to enhance nurses’ knowledge, competence and performance in managing both cardiovascular and respiratory health challenges. Participants will explore a comprehensive approach to diagnosing and managing chest pain, distinguishing between cardiac and non-cardiac causes, and addressing heart failure, myocardial infarction, community-acquired pneumonia and mechanical ventilation. This activity will emphasize thorough cardiovascular assessment using the PQRST mnemonic and will review respiratory anatomy and the clinical presentation of common respiratory disorders and acid-base disturbances. Clinical considerations for elderly patients will be emphasized, with a focus on integrating current guidelines and providing patient-centered evidence-based care in alignment with current US health care practices.

- Identify acid-base disturbances within the context of respiratory pathophysiology and related compensatory mechanisms.

Credit designation statements
Nurses (PRC – Philippine Council of Nursing)
This activity is accredited by the Professional Regulations Commission – Continuing Professional Development. It is worth 6.00 PRC CPD Units as prescribed by the PRC-CPD council for the profession of Nursing. This activity will take ~6.5 hours to complete.
PRC CPD units will be issued ~30 days after the learner has completed the activity and has been validated.
Nurses (ANCC – US Nursing CPD)
The participant will be awarded up to 6.50 contact hour(s) of credit for attendance and completion of supplemental materials.
Nurse practitioners
The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP) accepts credit from organizations accredited by the ACCME and ANCC.
Attendance
A certificate of attendance will be provided to learners upon completion of activity requirements, enabling participants to register with licensing boards or associations that have not been pre-approved for credits. To apply for credit types not listed above, participants should use the procedure established by the specific organization with which they wish to obtain credit.
