These materials are only intended for those that have participated in the Medical Track of ATTACh 2024: 36th Annual Childhood Trauma and Attachment Conference, September 12 - 14, 2024. Credit should be claimed after the conclusion of the conference.
These sessions will delve into the intricate relationships between various forms of trauma and health outcomes, highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in addressing the needs of affected populations. Participants will engage with a range of topics, including the intergenerational impact of forced migration, the balancing act between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and positive childhood experiences (PCEs), innovative approaches to enhance parental engagement in childcare programs, the connection between early adversities and chronic illnesses, and comprehensive strategies for assessing and treating children with trauma and developmental concerns. These sessions aim to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to foster resilience, promote healing and improve health outcomes for individuals and communities with trauma.

Target Audience
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of licensed professional counselors, nurses, pharmacists/pharmacy technicians, physicians, psychologists and social workers who have participated in ATTACh 2024: 36th Annual Childhood Trauma and Attachment Conference.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Recognize the distinctions between refugees and immigrants, the stages of the refugee journey and the concept of ambiguous grief to better address intergenerational trauma and foster resilience.
- Identify the interaction between ACEs and PCEs, the brain’s capacity for change and strategies to leverage the Four Building Blocks of HOPE to support child and youth development.
- Discuss techniques to mitigate barriers to parental engagement in programs, increase participation and foster cohesion in telehealth settings.
- Describe risk factors for chronic diseases stemming from ACEs, including the mechanisms linking these experiences to health outcomes, focusing on interventions to mitigate these risks.
- Review multidisciplinary assessment and treatment strategies for children with trauma and developmental concerns, including those affected by abusive head trauma, emphasizing collaborative care and long-term follow-up.

Counselors and/or marriage and family therapists
CA: The Board of Behavioral Sciences has deferred CE course approvals to APA and ASWB for its licensees. See those approvals under Psychologists and Social Workers.
Other States: If your state is not specifically listed, nearly all state Counselor and MFT boards accept either APA or ASWB approval, or are reciprocal with other state licensing board approvals. Check with your board to be sure.
