Activity description
Fetal growth restriction (FGR) is a significant obstetric challenge that impacts both maternal and neonatal outcomes. This session will offer an in-depth exploration of FGR, reviewing its etiologies and associated perinatal risks and distinguishing between FGR and small for gestational age (SGA). Participants will learn optimal screening practices, prevention strategies and antenatal testing methods, including both inpatient and outpatient options. This activity will also delve into the intrapartum management of FGR and determining the best route of delivery. It will explore the postnatal complications and challenges in infants affected by FGR, postnatal management strategies and the concept of fetal origins of adult disease following FGR. This dual-focus approach aims to provide participants with a holistic understanding of FGR from prenatal to postnatal stages, enhancing their ability to make informed decisions and implement effective interventions for better outcomes.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Define, discuss and contrast FGR vs SGA.
- Identify the etiologies of FGR and review its postnatal complications.
- Describe perinatal risks, associated screening practices and approaches to prevent FGR, as well as the postnatal management of infants with FGR.
- Recognize optimal management approaches to FGR, including antenatal testing options and intrapartum management.
- Discuss the best route of delivery and describe the fetal origins of adult disease following FGR.
