Tackling Chronic Kidney Disease: Emerging Therapies and Diagnostics
Activity description
This activity consists of a recorded presentation from the "33rd Annual National Conference" held October 14-16, 2024, in Bloomington, Minn. It is designed to meet the educational needs of nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, psychologists, physicians, PAs and social workers.
This activity will delve into the current landscape and future directions in chronic kidney disease (CKD) management, diagnosis and treatments. Participants will explore recent innovations, including precision medicine approaches and the potential of regenerative medicine and stem cell therapy. New classes of medications that have shown promise in slowing CKD progression, potentially reducing the need for dialysis or transplantation, will be highlighted.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Outline the advancements in precision medicine specific to CKD and how they contribute to a tailored treatment approach.
- Identify updates in the treatment of IgA nephropathy and their implications for CKD management.
- Discuss the role of new pharmacologic agents in changing the prognosis of CKD patients, including expanded indications for SGLT2i and GLP1-RA drugs.
- Examine the potential impact of cell and gene therapies on the treatment of CKD and the challenges associated with these novel approaches.

Attendance
