Proton Therapy and Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy in Cancer Treatment
This educational activity consists of recorded presentations from the 19th Annual National Conference held in Chicago, IL on September 13–15, 2010.
The conference topics have been expanded and redesigned in order to bring valuable, cutting-edge clinical topics to our learners. Conference faculty is comprised of recognized clinical and thought leaders, and sessions will focus on innovations and trends in solid organ and blood/marrow transplantation, oncology, kidney disease, heart disease, disease management, consumerism, and health and well-being.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this educational activity, participants should be able to
- Compare and contrast proton from conventional x-ray (photon) therapy and the rationale for its clinical use.
- Identify cancer diagnoses treated with proton therapy and IMRT.
- Explain how proton therapy can improve clinical outcomes and reduce side effects in cancer patients.
